(Kimball Road at Oil Springs Line)
Due to the fact that the institution at the core of this hamlet was the Presbyterian Church, the namesake is undoubtedly Rev. Dr. Thomas Guthrie, an evangelical reformer in the Free Church in Scotland. Guthrie Presbyterian Church was built in 1884 on the southwest corner, with the manse directly west of it. On June 10, 1925 church union caused the former Guthrie Presbyterian Church to become Calvary United Church when the congregation joined with Bethel Methodist Church of Waubuno. Calvary United Church closed in June 2008 and was demolished; so the main landmark has since vanished.
