Osborne post office opened on October 1, 1874, at the corner of lot 4, Con. 12 Moore.  Alexander Lamond was the first postmaster.  It is likely named for Queen Victoria’s favourite castle, “Osborne Castle” on the Isle of Wight.   The post office closed on July 20, 1911.  In 1925, Mooreline United Church (built in 1895 for the Presbyterian congregation which had been established in 1857), and Jackson’s school were still operating in the Osborne area.
